Protect Your Tender Shrubs Against Winter Environments
It’s easy to plant a garden in your own backyard and to take care of it in a planthouse.
A garden planted in a planthouse could be of several types, depending upon what you want. You can have a vegetable or flower garden that can grow from seedlings inside your planthouse. These days the concept of a greenhouse or planthouse garden is extremely popular.
A planthouse garden is more of a traditional garden because you must assemble the planthouse to a secure spot. They can be a permanent or a temporary structure and made from plastic or glass. You can have them as transparent material or even translucent depending on the amount of sunlight penetration.
The purpose of having a planthouse is to protect your seedlings and plants from the harsh climate that is not normally suitable for them. Plants that often die when exposed to freezing weather will usually survive and flourish in a planthouse.
With the help of a planthouse, your plants and the growing periods could be extended by a maximum of three to four months, from early spring into late autumn.
Planning the size and type of structure for your planthouse is especially important. You should determine the size by what you wish to grow inside your planthouse. Are you going to grow fruit-bearing plants like Tomatoes or something that grows much larger and taller?
You should determine how much space you would need for the planthouse and the extra space for keeping your tools and other gardening materials in the planthouse.
As regards the planthouse location, you should take into consideration shade and access to a watering system. You will also have to create heating and cooling systems for your planthouse while designing it because of temperature. Depending on your geographical location, your climate could experience very cold winters where temperatures drop below freezing and the possibility of extreme heat where the temperature exceeds 100 degrees Fahrenheit.
You want to make sure your plants survive and thrive, so protect those delicate seedlings and annuals by growing them inside a planthouse.
